Four courses.
One professional pathway.
Choose the course that fits your role, or progress through all four levels to build advanced cognitive-motor practitioner competence.
Individual courses. Structured progression.
Each course has defined learning outcomes and assessment requirements. Learners can take relevant courses individually, while the complete four-level pathway builds towards advanced practitioner status. Prior learning or professional experience may be considered through a formal review process.
Foundations of Cognitive-Motor Training
Understand the science of movement, cognition and learning, and translate the foundations into purposeful introductory activities.
What you will study
- Neuroplasticity, brain development and movement
- Attention, working memory, inhibition, cognitive flexibility, processing speed and visual processing
- Sensory integration, emotional regulation and neurodiversity
- Cognitive-motor demands in PE, classrooms and daily functioning
- Introduction to cognitive-motor activity design
Practical assessment
Analyse the cognitive demands of three activities and design an introductory cognitive-motor lesson with a clear learning objective.
Who it is for
Educators, PE teachers, coaches, SEN teams and newcomers to cognitive-motor practice
Learning outcome
Explain core cognitive-motor principles and apply introductory activities.
Cognitive-Motor Observation and Assisted Practice
Develop structured observation skills and assist with cognitive-motor delivery under appropriate supervision.
What you will study
- Structured observation of cognitive-motor behaviour
- Identifying functional performance patterns without clinical diagnosis
- Observation checklists, rubrics and baseline records
- Task grading, scaffolding and inclusive sensory adaptations
- Feedback, safeguarding, professional boundaries and documentation
Practical assessment
Complete structured observation records and demonstrate an assisted activity using a defined observation rubric.
Who it is for
Teaching assistants, learning support staff, PE educators and developing practitioners
Learning outcome
Observe, document and support cognitive-motor activities within defined boundaries.
Cognitive-Motor Technology and Applied Programming
Select and configure cognitive-motor technologies, design programmes and use performance data to refine activities.
What you will study
- Technology-assisted cognitive-motor training principles
- Interactive reaction systems, digital drills and activity tools
- Mapping drills to cognitive domains and intended outcomes
- Difficulty progression, age-appropriate adaptation and task complexity
- Individual, group and whole-class programming
- Performance data, progress monitoring and responsible technology use
Practical assessment
Design and demonstrate a four-session programme with drill selection, difficulty levels, progression criteria and an evaluation plan.
Who it is for
PE teachers, sports coaches, intervention facilitators and programme designers
Learning outcome
Design and implement structured technology-supported programmes.
Advanced Cognitive-Motor Practitioner
Integrate observation, programme design and evaluation into independent, accountable practice within your professional scope.
What you will study
- Advanced cognitive-motor programme design
- Interpreting functional performance and educational assessment information
- Individualised planning and evidence-informed adaptations
- Integrating programmes across PE, SEN and whole-school delivery
- Monitoring outcomes, quality assurance and reflective practice
- Mentoring educators and implementation leadership
Practical assessment
Submit a supervised capstone portfolio: needs analysis, six-week programme, delivery evidence, progress review and professional reflection.
Who it is for
Lead educators, programme coordinators and experienced cognitive-motor practitioners
Learning outcome
Plan, deliver, evaluate and refine programmes independently within professional scope.
Advanced practitioner certification requires successful completion of the pathway prerequisites and competency evidence; attendance alone is insufficient.
